BATCH PICKING
Batch picking is a process of preparation of orders characterized by “groups of orders…whose objective is to minimize the time spent on repetitive actions of loading/extraction of the same location of product”. A single person (picker) moves through the warehouse and selects products to fill multiple orders in a single movement. Optimal batch picking management often requires a warehouse management system (WMS) or an order management system (OMS) to pre-order orders.
For example: all orders that require one or more products from the same stock (Stock Keeping Units SKUs) or all orders whose product (SKU) requires searching in close proximity to each other. After grouping them together, the system releases a batch of grouped orders.
